----------------------------------------------------------

On the fifth day the sun came lazy but we were welcomed with an amazing chilaquiles’ breakfast, done by The Breakfast group B (Edel, Citlali, Agustina, Luno, Daniela and Leif). With a full stomach we welcomed the kids charged with new energy for the last day of the first week.

The kids were excited about the play during the opening circle.  Then Victoria led their vocal warm up followed by Agustina’s full body stretch.  To end up the opening cirlcle Abraham led the group into a release circle helped by the drum and voice.  All of us were out of breath but at the end of the exercise we were all powered up!

The group was divided in three small groups led by Victoria, Agustina and Neyli.  In each group kids got a chance to share what they had learned through the week, some shared experiences that related to the three Cs (Compassion, creativity, courage) and how now they are having more courage to do the things that they always wanted but never did. One of them shared that sometimes she gets upset really easily and she has realized that is better to stop and think instead of reacting with anger.

After lunch the meditation was lead by Fernando supported by three musicians: Ricardo, Hector and Leif.  The kids relaxed with help from the music, after they wrote about what they saw while they were meditating.
The kids created phrases that were collected by Victoria and were later used in a music battle.  There were two groups and each took turns, you could feel the excitement in the room. Everyone was very passionate about singing together. It was an amazing experience to witness how proud and happy they looked.

When the music battle finished the kids went back to their theater groups to improvised and present sketches to the whole group.  It has been so joyous to be here working with this group of children because they are learning at a very fast pace and we can see results the same day.  The three theater groups presented their sketches and after the group gave collective feed back.  The children are very good at correcting each other.  All the plays were related to water and the three Cs, this is the second day that they acted and I was so impressed by their improvement and their excitement was contagious.

This week was so productive and the kids, as well as, the youth guides and the artistic guides learned so much, the group has become very close and I am really excited to see how all this work unravels through the week and at the end in a beautiful explosion on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Casa Internacional del Escritor in Bacalar.
